How to Use the Gopass Card?
The Gopass card comes in two forms: physical and digital. Let’s look at the difference and when to use each.
Plastic Gopass keycard: You will always need the plastic card in every resort when skiing to pass through the turnstiles. In winter, the Gopass card is a must-have item on the pistes.
Digital Gopass card: You can use the card downloaded to your mobile phone for other products and services (water park tickets, ski school, ski rental, hotel stays, golf and much more). The plastic Gopass card is not necessary for these.
And what about tourists who want to use cable cars? They can use the QR codes in their purchase confirmation (receipt). This way, they can take cable car trips in Slovak, and Polish resorts, and in Špindlerův Mlýn and Ještěd in the Czech Republic.
The Gopass card is your personal identifier. You can easily top it up with water park tickets or season passes, ski passes or the Gopass SKI Season Pass, and parking – all via the Gopass app. To know why it’s worth downloading and using the app, please read the article on the benefits of the Gopass app.
To buy products on the website www.gopass.travel, you don’t need a plastic Gopass card. Skiers and snowboarders, however, should know that they will need it during the winter season to use ski passes – to pass through turnstiles. After you register for the Gopass programme for the first time, you will automatically receive a digital card. Instructions for saving it to your mobile will be included in the confirmation email.
Where to get the Gopass card?
When you make your first purchase of products that can only be used with a plastic keycard, the Gopass card will be automatically added to your shopping basket. You can pick it up at the Customer Centre or at the self-service ticket machines (AOM) when you come to the resort.
Picking up the Gopass keycard at an AOM is simple. Just tap the screen, select your language, press “pick up” and enter the 6-digit PIN code you received in the email confirming your product purchase. The AOM device will then issue the keycard along with the purchased product and you can head straight to the cable car.
*AOM = Assisted Sales Points can be found in every Slovak TMR resort – Jasná (both north and south sides), Tatranská Lomnica, Starý Smokovec, Štrbské Pleso, in the Polish resort of Szczyrk, and the Czech resorts of Špindlerův Mlýn, Ještěd, Monínec. The self-service ticket machines are located at or near customer centres, close to cable car stations and at interchange and summit stations.
Each Gopass card is personalised and non-transferable. We recommend signing or marking your Gopass card to avoid confusion. If this happens, the Gopass card will be blocked and you will need to visit a customer centre to resolve the situation.
If you find that your Gopass card is lost, damaged or misused, it is important to block the card. This can be done in your Gopass account by clicking on “I lost my card” or by calling the Gopass helpline.
You can add a new card to your Gopass account in the Gopass cards section, under the Kexcard tab by clicking Add a card (or buy one at the customer centres in resorts). The original card should be blocked and then the new one can be added.
When can you go straight to cable cars and when do you need to visit the customer centre first?
When buying cable car tickets for tourists in Slovak, Polish resorts, and in Špindlerův Mlýn and Ještěd in the Czech Republic, use the QR code from your purchase confirmation to pass through turnstiles. In the Monínec resort (Czech Republic), you will need your Gopass keycard to pass through turnstiles. If you don’t have it, please visit the customer centre to get one.
If you buy a ski pass online and have an assigned Gopass keycard, you can go straight to cable cars and enjoy snow-covered pistes. If you don’t have a Gopass card, visit the customer centre or the ticket office in the respective resort or the self-service point (AOM) to pick up the plastic keycard topped up with the ski pass.
We understand that there is a lot of information. That’s why please don’t overlook the Order confirmation that will “land” in your email after your order. This is your ticket to the world of information. Please check it before your visit and you will be in the picture.
What to do if you forget your Gopass card?
Ideally, always have your Gopass card with you. However, if your card is in another handbag, jacket, car… everything can be solved. You don’t have to miss out on your experience.
If you forget your Gopass card before entering a water park, you can download the digital card to your mobile in the Gopass app. It can be found under the Gopass cards tab and shown at the entrance. Another option is to use the purchase confirmation email, which includes your Gopass card number.
Tourist ticket holders can access cable cars via turnstiles by scanning the QR codes in their order confirmations. Gopass keycards are required only in the Monínec resort in the Czech Republic, so you need to stop by the customer centre for a substitute card.
When skiing in ski resorts, you need the Gopass keycard to pass through the turnstiles. If you forget it, you can have a substitute card issued at the ticket office or customer centre (a fee for issuing a new card and a fee for recharging the ski pass are required then).
