The High Tatras can offer an unbelievable amount of attractive walks, which makes them brilliant.
And that doesn’t apply only to the most dedicated hikers who are willing to walk to the most remote corners of the Tatras or to high altitudes for several hours. Breathtaking views and unforgettable moments are available also for less experienced tourists who can take a walk in the villages at the foot of the Tatras or along less difficult hiking trails.
And in addition to all that, there are also attractive tourist destinations accessible with cable cars. The locality known mainly as the steepest ski piste in the Tatras and also in Slovakia offers a great chance to feel the excitement when looking at deep valleys or panoramas of high peaks and their rock walls in summer.
Already when travelling with a chairlift to the saddle, one can feast their eyes on majestic Mt Lomnický štít, the spectacular slopes of Mt Kežmarský štít and, of course, fascinating valley scenery. Lomnické sedlo (saddle) is accessible for tourists only during the summer season and one can either walk up the trail from Skalnaté Pleso to Lomnické sedlo with a professional tourist guide or take the chairlift there. A comfortable green-marked hiking trail runs from there up to Mt Veľká Lomnická veža (2,215 m), a stunning lookout spot on the ridge known as Lomnický hrebeň, where even families with children can get thanks to the chairlift. While walking around up there, don’t forget to take a look at the location where the famous cottage of the main characters of Slovak cult films – Copper Tower and Eagle Feather was built temporarily. And if you are lucky, you might spot marmots on the meadows there as this is their home.
