There was a record attempt in the High Tatras
Racers from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland met in Tatranská Lomnica on 1st March 2023 to break the speed skiing record.
LAST RECORDS:
- 1979, Kasprowy Wierch – 180.632 km/h
- 2022, Lomnické sedlo (saddle) – 174 km/h
Who will hold a new record?
Well-known names will be fighting to be the fastest skiers:
Dariusz Duda – Speed Skiing World Cup racer from Poland and Polish record holder (192.102 km/h SDH.
Boris Karolčík – a passionate athlete born in Martin will shuffle the cards in the downhill. Boris does freestyle snowboarding and can be proud of several snowboarding achievements. His personal record in Lomnické sedlo (saddle) is 112 km/h.
Edvard Foldyna – has liked riding anything that is fast since his childhood. He changed alpine skiing for speed skiing quite quickly. In numbers, this means 196.399 km/h in the SDH category and the 11th place in the World Cup S1 ranking in the 2022 season.
Peter Urban – a ski cross racer (multiple Czech Cup winner and World Championships and European Cup participant). Currently, he is fully dedicated to S1 speed skating, his personal record is 215.698 km/h in the SDH category. He is one of few speed skiers who can reach more than 200 km/h and holds the Czech record (200 km/h).
