The Lake Garden Tatralandia hotel resort convinced us that a family holiday can be stress free. Pools, wellness, playgrounds, a restaurant and the Tatras all within easy reach.
A family holiday is often about compromise. The child wants to play, the parents want to relax, and everyone wants to experience something new. So during a June weekend, we tried Lake Garden Tatralandia. The result? Three days full of experiences, with something for every member of the family.

The first impression that sets the tone for the whole holiday
We arrived at the resort on Friday shortly after 4 pm. Even before checking in, we were pleasantly surprised by the children’s corner right next to the reception. While we were sorting out check-in, Markus immediately started exploring the toys, and we were able to take care of everything we needed without stress.
At reception, the staff kindly explained all the benefits we could enjoy as part of our stay. The package also included tickets to the Tatralandia and Bešeňová water parks, as well as cable cars in Jasná and the High Tatras, which made planning our weekend programme much easier.
After opening the door to the apartment, it was clear that a relaxing weekend was ahead of us. The apartment was spacious, modernly furnished and even included bathrobes and pool towels. Suddenly, we felt as if we had arrived on holiday somewhere by the sea. A big plus was the fully equipped kitchen and the spacious living area with stylish lighting, which created a very pleasant atmosphere during our evening downtime.
From our balcony, we had a beautiful view of the Western Tatras panorama. In the distance, we could also see the High Tatra peak Kriváň, and at sunset the whole scene became almost picture-perfect.

Dinner, the playground and the first swim
Half board also made us very happy – finally, we did not have to cook. The buffet dinner offered a wide choice of dishes and each of us found something we liked. Children also had their own separate corner, although the adults regularly went there to “check” the ice cream too. After dinner, we headed to the huge children’s playground by the hotel. Climbing frames, a sandpit, a children’s kitchen and other play elements kept Markus so entertained that he could easily have stayed there until dusk. But we still had more plans.

We ended Friday in the indoor and outdoor pools. The resort also includes a small lake with palm trees, giving the whole place an exotic touch. Markus and I had great fun in the water and enjoyed the massage benches too. The lake is a little cooler, but on hot days it offers wonderfully refreshing relief. Then Markus and I headed to bed, while Maca treated herself to wellness at the end of the day. The next day, we swapped.

A morning at the hotel, lunch below Chopok and an afternoon in the aquapark
Saturday breakfast at Lake Garden Tatralandia was generous and varied. A big bonus was being able to enjoy it on the terrace. Parents will also appreciate the direct view of the children’s playground from the terrace, so Markus could play while we still had him in sight.

One of the biggest benefits of the stay is that cable cars and entry to water parks are included in the price. We made full use of this and headed to Jasná. We took the cable car up to Chopok and then set off towards Poľana with Markus in a hiking carrier. The weather, however, began to show its mountain character, and the approaching storm convinced us that the most sensible option was to descend through Dolina Zadných vôd back to the car.

The big summer opening in Tatralandia with an extra bonus
After hiking, we moved straight to Tatralandia, where the big summer season opening was taking place. New water slides, concerts by performers such as Tina, Ego and EKG, and a rich accompanying programme created a true summer atmosphere.
But what we appreciated most was something completely different – the contact zoo, which aquapark guests could enter free of charge that day. Markus was thrilled by the llamas and spent a long time watching the lions and bears too. After returning to the hotel, another tasty dinner and an evening swim were waiting for us.
While Maca was putting Markus to bed, I enjoyed some well-earned relaxation in the wellness centre. The saunas, whirlpools and cooling lake were exactly what you need after an active day.

When the weather changes the plans, but not the experiences
Meteorologists had forecast worse weather for Sunday. After an excellent breakfast and check-out, we decided to head to Štrbské Pleso. We took the cable car up to Solisko and continued towards the cross. The mountains, however, had a different plan for us again. Storm clouds were quickly approaching from both Kriváň and Lomnický štít, so we turned back halfway along the route. In the mountains, the goal is not to reach the summit at any cost, but to bring home a safe and memorable experience.
Then came the descent by cable car, the transfer back to the car and another stop – the Bešeňová aquapark. Before heading home, we spent a few more hours relaxing in both thermal and non-thermal pools. Even the summer rain did not put us off, and it did not spoil the swimming at all. Markus had a great time on the playground and in the water, we relaxed, and we left for home feeling that this is exactly what a family weekend should look like.

A place where you do not have to compromise
Hotel Lake Garden Tatralandia pleasantly surprised us. It is a place where parents can relax, children can have fun, and at the same time you can discover a different part of Liptov every day. If you are looking for accommodation that combines comfort, active relaxation and a family atmosphere, this is the right choice.
We also tried Hotel Aquamarín in Bešeňová. While older children, roughly from the age of four, will have even more fun there, Lake Garden Tatralandia is suitable even for the youngest guests, especially thanks to its playground, children’s corner and pools.
