The Tatras offer plenty of ways to enjoy the mountains even with little explorers. You do not have to give up stunning views or memorable experiences, it is simply a matter of choosing the right route. Here are our top picks for pram friendly trips you will genuinely love.
Sliezsky dom: A classic mountain destination within reach
The trail to Sliezsky dom is one of the most popular family routes in the High Tatras. Starting in Tatranská Polianka, it follows a paved road all the way up to the mountain hotel. While the altitude and distance make it a bit more demanding, the terrain itself is technically easy. Over 7 kilometres, you’ll climb just under 700 altitude metres. And the reward? Beautiful views of Velické pleso (tarn), the surrounding valley and majestic Mt Gerlachovský štít.
Why come here:
- fully paved route suitable for all prams (no need for an off-road model),
- stunning high-altitude scenery,
- refreshments available at the top.

Kôprová dolina: A peaceful nature escape
Kôprová dolina (valley) is perfect for a calm, family-friendly day out. The route begins with easy parking in Podbanské and continues along a wide, paved road. The asphalt ends at the crossroads known as Rázcestie pod Grúňom. You can continue a little further with a pram, but at this point we’d recommend a sturdier, all-terrain model. Alternatively, it’s ideal to leave your locked pram there and switch to a baby carrier. Although it may look flat at first glance, don’t be fooled – the full return route stretches to 26 kilometres with a total altitude difference of around 750 metres.
Why come here:
- more authentic, untouched nature,
- fewer crowds,
- ideal for a full-day walk,
- plenty of shelters where you can comfortably change your baby.

Hrebienok: Easy access with a funicular option
Hrebienok is sometimes overlooked due to its popularity, but it offers a surprisingly varied range of easy walks suitable for prams. The main route follows a well-maintained paved road and is suitable for all types of prams. Over 2.6 kilometres, you’ll gain around 260 altitude metres.
Once at Hrebienok, you can continue towards the waterfalls of Studený potok (brook), up to the junction above Rainer’s hut – though a more robust, all-terrain pram is recommended for this section. Along the way, you’ll find cosy mountain huts and chalets perfect for a break and refreshments.
Hrebienok can also be reached effortlessly by funicular from Starý Smokovec, making it one of the most accessible outings in the Tatras.
Why come here:
- quick and easy access via funicular,
- ideal for shorter trips,
- plenty to see nearby (waterfalls, nature, scenic views),
- good facilities for refreshments and baby care at Hrebienok.

Jasná: Nature meets comfort
Jasná in the Low Tatras is a fantastic choice for families looking for convenience without compromising on scenery. There are various well-maintained trails, cable cars and restaurants throughout the area. You can enjoy gentle walks in Jasná, or take a cable car higher into the mountains and explore from there with minimal effort.
Why come here:
- excellent infrastructure,
- cable cars available,
- perfect for shorter, relaxed outings.

Štrbské Pleso: Fresh mountain air and breathtaking views
Štrbské Pleso in the High Tatras is our final pram-friendly mountain walk tip. This area has it all – a wide range of accommodation establishments, great restaurants and endless walking routes around the tarn (Štrbské pleso). If you’re staying longer, consider a trip to Popradské pleso (tarn) as well. Whether you stroll around Štrbské pleso or head out to Popradské pleso, both routes are perfectly suitable for prams.
Why come here:
- beautiful natural surroundings,
- short but also longer routes available,
- chairlift option to enjoy views from Solisko.
