How to get to Mt Lomnický štít?
1. By cable car from Tatranská Lomnica
Taking a cable car from Tatranská Lomnica is the fastest and most comfortable way to reach Mt Lomnický štít. The journey consists of three phases:
- Cable car from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté Pleso (approx. 20 minutes)
- Change at Skalnaté Pleso and trip to Mt Lomnický štít (approx. 5 minutes)
- Return via the same route

We recommend arriving in Tatranská Lomnica at least one hour before your booked departure from Skalnaté Pleso so that you have enough time to arrange everything necessary and find your bearings in the resort. The cable car ride to Skalnaté Pleso takes about 20 minutes, and visitors can spend 50 minutes on Mt Lomnický štít.

2. Hiking in summer combined with a cable car trip
If you’d like to combine your visit with a hike in summer, walk from Tatranská Lomnica to Skalnaté Pleso along the cable car route. This moderately difficult hike starts at the lower cable car station in Tatranská Lomnica. The trail is approximately 6 km long, with an altitude difference of around 850 metres, and it takes about 2.5 to 3 hours to overcome.

3. Climbing on foot: only for experienced mountaineers
There is no marked hiking trail running to Mt Lomnický štít, but experienced climbers can reach the summit, but only with a mountain guide via a climbing route through Lomnické sedlo (saddle). The hiking route from Skalnaté Pleso to Lomnické sedlo can also only be accessed with a mountain guide or by cable car.
Where can cable car tickets be purchased?
1. Online at gopass.travel
We recommend booking your tickets online in advance, as the Lomnický štít cable car has limited capacity and the tickets sell out quickly. The tickets are available at gopass.travel.
2. At the ticket office
If you prefer not to buy tickets online, you can purchase them at the ticket office in Tatranská Lomnica. However, they may be sold out, so we recommend buying tickets in advance and online.
How to buy a Lomnický štít cable car ticket?
To purchase a Lomnický štít ticket, every person must be registered with Gopass, except for children under 6 years old, who do not require registration. Children up to 5.99 years can travel for free, and no seat reservation in the cable car is needed. Each paying adult can take up to two children free of charge.
Step-by-step guide to buying a cable car ticket:
- Log in or register with Gopass.
- Select the “Tatranská Lomnica” resort and choose a “1-day ticket”.
- Select the ticket type: “Lomnický štít – return ticket”.
- Choose the date and specify the passengers.
- Select the boarding point and the departure time for the aerial tramway running from Skalnaté Pleso.
- Read the ticket instructions, add it to your basket, and choose the passengers.
- Complete the payment and you will receive a confirmation email with all important details.
Before heading to the cable car, have your QR code ready. You can find it in your Gopass account under “My Orders” or in the purchase confirmation email.

1. Check the weather
The weather on Mt Lomnický štít can change rapidly. Check the forecast before your trip and be prepared for fog, strong winds, or low temperatures – even in summer. You can check live conditions via the webcam.
2. Dress appropriately
Even if it’s warm in the valleys, Mt Lomnický štít is cold. We recommend layered clothing, a warm jacket, gloves and sturdy footwear.
