The Jasná resort is a greatly appreciated organiser with perfectly prepared pistes
After last Tuesday, the Jasná resort is one step closer to hosting a slalom and giant slalom weekend of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup series organised by the International Ski Federation (FIS). The resort in the Low Tatras underwent an inspection of FIS representatives including Peter Gerdol, the Women’s Race Director. The delegation came to check how the organisers are prepared to welcome the women’s alpine skiing elite including home star Petra Vlhová in Jasná on 20th and 21st January 2024.
The group inspected the race course thoroughly
Questions about the overall event organisation and accompanying events, TV broadcasting, TV signal transmission or sports and marketing issues were important too.
We were very happy to hear that the World Cup is returning to Jasná. And even sooner than we expected. The initial inspection of the FIS representatives was successful and we can continue with our preparations. We are fine-tuning the visual aspect and the whole marketing presentation which will be based on the female concept again and introduced to the public soon. In addition to the World Cup sports experience itself, we plan a lot of attractive accompanying events so that the fans can enjoy themselves to the fullest in Jasná, such as attractive bib draw, concerts and various interesting activities in the area of Biela púť and in Happy End. We expect that about 30,000 people might come to support the athletes during the January weekend, which requires a precise preparation, hard work and great logistics.

When compared to 2021, the organisers plan some changes as for the race course. “Every year, we do our best to keep improving the World Cup races because we are appointed to organise them quite regularly now. So this time we have decided to use excess soil to groom the finish area. The finish area was inspected also by the FIS representatives and evaluated as absolutely problem-free,” explained Maroš Kupčo, the Ski Piste Chef at the World Cup Jasná.
There is a lot of competition among potential organisers and it’s a big honour for Slovakia to be able to organise a world-class ski event. The Slovak Ski Association is incredibly proud to help organise the World Cup and we will do our best so that the preparations as well as the event itself are absolutely professional.
