Do not pack your skis away just yet. Take a look with us at why spring skiing has become such a firm favourite.
Some people can not wait for warmer days and are already counting down to the official start of spring. Then there are winter sports enthusiasts who definitely are not counting the days to spring, quite the opposite. They are hoping for the longest possible stretch of good snow conditions so they can make the most of spring skiing.
In our highest-altitude resorts, such as Jasná, Štrbské Pleso or Tatranská Lomnica, you can still enjoy sunny, quality skiing in March and even April, as long as the conditions allow.

What makes spring slopes the skier’s secret favourite?
- Fewer people on the slopes.
- Better ski pass prices.
- Corn snow with no icy patches.
- Relaxing on terraces and in après-ski bars.
- Cheerful spring atmosphere.
- Soaking up vitamin D.

Wondering whether there’s still enough snow and whether it’s good enough? Of course, it depends on the winter and the overall snow conditions throughout the season. But when the weather cooperates, spring skiing is extremely popular – thanks to longer days and, above all, more sunshine.
When temperatures rise above 0°C, the snow takes on a softer, corn-like texture. It skis differently, but without the icy sheets that tend to form on packed powder in freezing conditions. That means no unpleasant or risky sections where stopping can be tricky. Spring skiing is therefore ideal for beginners or anyone who’s still a little nervous about falling – after all, landing in soft corn snow is far kinder than hitting hard, icy ground.

Sunny slopes lift the mood
When heading out for spring skiing, think carefully about what to wear. The heavy layers you rely on in the coldest part of winter won’t feel comfortable now and may cause you to overheat. On some days, a base layer and a lighter jacket are perfectly enough. Don’t forget proper ski goggles for sun protection and sunscreen with a sufficiently high SPF is an absolute must.
“Sunbathing” on the terraces of après-ski bars is another of spring skiing’s undeniable perks. Who wouldn’t enjoy a break between runs while topping up their vitamin D? Even lunch or a drink taste better when you know you’ll get part of the cost back. How does that work?
Spend smarter, get more back
When you pay within the TMR network, you receive 1.5–5% of your purchase value back as goX cashback, depending on your Gopass level. In simple terms, a percentage of every payment is returned and collected in your Gopass account. This goX cashback can then be used to buy drinks, food or services next time.
To pay with goX directly, activate the payment option in your app (if you’re unsure how, the friendly staff will gladly help). When at the till, scan your digital card in the app, and your cashback will be deducted automatically.

MINI GUIDE: Turn your ski day into lunch (with goX Cashback)
Want to save money when paying at a slope-side restaurant or bar? Activate goX payment and use your earned cashback in three simple steps:
- Open the Gopass app – log in and tap the card/profile icon in the bottom menu.
- Activate “Gopass Payment” – in your card details, enable payment via goX cashback. You’ll be prompted to create a 4-digit PIN for security.
- Scan and save – at the après-ski bar or restaurant, show the barcode of your digital card. The staff will scan it, and the amount will automatically be deducted from your available goX balance.
Pro tip: Keep an eye on your Gopass level. The more you ski and spend during the season, the higher the percentage (up to 5%) you’ll earn on every purchase!

In addition to sun-drenched slopes, spring skiing also offers two clear advantages: fewer crowds and more attractive ski pass prices.

The higher you go, the better the snow
Which resorts are best in spring? As temperatures rise, head higher for reliable snow and better conditions. That makes the resorts in the High and Low Tatras, such as Jasná, Štrbské Pleso and Tatranská Lomnica, the ideal choice.
Jasná offers fantastic skiing thanks to its long runs on both sides of the mountain (south and north). With a single ski pass, you can enjoy sunshine all day long or retreat to the shadier northern slopes of Mt Chopok. Altogether, the resort boasts up to 50 km of pistes, so boredom is never an issue. Freeride enthusiasts will be in their element too.

If you’ve been hesitating about a spring mountain getaway, the answer is simple: fewer people, softer snow and more money back in your pocket. Thanks to goX cashback and smart planning with Gopass, spring skiing is no longer a luxury – it’s a wise choice for every mountain lover.
Jasná features 12 designated freeride zones on the northern (steeper and more demanding) side and the southern (wider and gentler) side.
Štrbské Pleso delivers idyllic spring skiing thanks to its favourable altitude (with the base at 1,350 m above sea level) and southern orientation. You can soak up vitamin D here all day long. The higher altitude also means that Štrbské Pleso is often one of the last places where skiing continues into spring.
If you’d like to try freeriding in Tatranská Lomnica, in addition to the terrain near Lomnické sedlo (saddle), you’ll find the legendary French mogul. This is exclusively off-piste terrain, so solid knowledge of mountain safety and full avalanche equipment are essential.

The High Tatras and Jasná are ready to show you their sunny side. Follow the latest snow reports, activate goX payment and enjoy the very best conditions the Slovak spring can offer.
The season hasn’t said its final word yet – make the most of it!
