The Bešeňová water park is a great place where adults can relax and children can have fun, frolic and enjoy adrenaline adventures.
Whether you make a 1-day trip or a family holiday, everyone will enjoy their time to the fullest. The Bešeňová water park has a lot to offer 365 days a year: the sun overhead in summer and romance when snow falls around while you relax in a hot pool in winter.
Bešeňová water park: history
After the drilling in 1987, workers came across a source of geothermal water, which forms the basis of the water park. Hot healing water springs rise as deep as 1987 metres (which is interesting also due to the drilling process) and the water temperature reaches 60.5°C. The first public pools were opened in 1993 and after extensive investment in 2006, restaurants and accommodation facilities were added to the pools. In the summer of 2008, outdoor pools, slides and water slides were built. Currently, there are 18 summer pools in the Bešeňová water park – 7 of them with thermal water, and 9 year-round pools – 4 of them with thermal water.
In 2012, the Bešeňová Thermal Park was renamed GINO PARADISE Bešeňová. In 2017, the water park underwent a full rebranding and changed its name to Bešeňová Thermal Heart of Liptov. Currently, the park is known as the Bešeňová water park.
Bešeňová water park: pools
The Big thermal pool (BT5) is one of the most popular thermal pools where one can relax their body and mind. It is the warmest pool in Bešeňová, where massage jets relax stiff muscles. In the Relaxation pool with the Cosmopolitan pool bar, one can enjoy a drink at the pool bar while relaxing on massage bubble loungers.
Indoor pools all available all year round. Sea-like waves and the sound of the sea can be enjoyed in the Wave pool 10 minutes past every hour. The Children’s pool with water buckets, slides and a waterfall is ready to make children happy. The Fountain pool is popular with the smallest children as they can slide down a water slide there. The water park interior offers several relaxation and recreational pools as well, of course.
Interesting summer pools with even more interesting names: Bubble, Water Volcano, Rafting and Wild River promise a lot of amusement. The Bubble can be climbed through or to the top, and slid down into a landing pool. It’s great fun 😊. Or how about floating down a river with friends on an inflatable raft? The Water volcano is one of the best summer attractions. As the name suggests, water erupts from the water volcano and children can slide down from it. In the Wild river pool, you will be carried away by the flow of a wild river, or you can try swimming against the current.
Thermal water in Bešeňová: effects, composition
The thermal water of Bešeňová has positive effects on the musculoskeletal system all year round and on the respiratory system especially in spring, autumn and winter. It also has positive effects on human mental health and can relieve stress. And it helps treat urological problems.
It is typical for a reddish-brown colour. The hot water contains calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron, manganese, an exceptionally high amount of sulfates, bicarbonates, free carbon dioxide and other minerals.
The water temperature in Bešeňová is literally tailored
The Bešeňová water park is supplied with geothermal water from two wells ( 1,987 and 1,800 metres deep). The water temperature reaches 59-63°C, which is a high value for thermal pools, so it is adjusted in mixing tanks before being distributed to the pools. Here, geothermal water is mixed with cold technical water from the Váh river (technical water is treated to meet drinking water parameters). The mixing chambers are also filled with chilled geothermal water from engine rooms, where it transfers heat to heat exchangers. The transferred heat is used for heating spaces, domestic water and freshwater pools.
The chilled water in the mixing tanks is constantly chlorinated and substances preventing the formation of mineral deposits, which the geothermal water contains, are added to it. Subsequently, the water is pumped into the thermal pools by transport pumps. Almost the entire process is automated and supervised by a technology worker.
